About the work
Cornelis de Heem painted this abundant table in the late 1600s or early 1700s. The porcelain bowl most likely came from China; political turbulence there had all but stopped ceramic exports to the West by the 1640s, so the bowl would have been considered at least as valuable as the gold object beside it.
Printed on 200 gsm museum-quality matte paper from the museum’s high-resolution open-access image, with a white border so nothing of the original is cropped. Available from A4 up to 70 × 100 cm, or as a digital download to print yourself.
