About the work
In 1888 Monet spent four months in Antibes on the Mediterranean coast and completed dozens of canvases, despite winds that threatened to knock over his easel. This vibrant one shows a gardener’s house set against the sea and the distant Alps, painted in thick, bright colour that evokes the region’s sun-drenched climate; small daubs of green on the slender trees suggest the onset of spring.
Printed on 200 gsm museum-quality matte paper from the museum’s high-resolution open-access image, with a white border so nothing of the original is cropped. Available from A4 up to 70 × 100 cm, or as a digital download to print yourself.
