About the work
Plate 33 from George Brookshaw’s Pomona Britannica (1812), named after the Roman goddess of fruit trees and orchards and intended as the English country gentleman’s guide to identifying fruit. Many of Brookshaw’s models came from the Royal Gardens at Hampton Court and Kensington. Each plate shows one fruit, often life-size, with its flowers and leaves, printed in colour with hand-painted highlights.
Printed on 200 gsm museum-quality matte paper from the museum’s high-resolution open-access image, with a white border so nothing of the original is cropped. Available from A4 up to 70 × 100 cm, or as a digital download to print yourself.
