About the work
From Hiroshige’s One Hundred Views of Famous Places in Edo (1857). The design places us by pine trees, peering through a doorway at the end of a moon-viewing party: the silhouette of a figure with an elaborate hairstyle shows through a translucent paper door, while another guest sits near a musical instrument and blue-and-white ceramics, perhaps still admiring the full autumn moon over the ships in Edo Bay.
Printed on 200 gsm museum-quality matte paper from the museum’s high-resolution open-access image, with a white border so nothing of the original is cropped. Available from A4 up to 70 × 100 cm, or as a digital download to print yourself.
