About the work
Monet’s first wife, Camille, passes the French doors of their home at Argenteuil on a snowy day. Her face is rendered in a radically bold Impressionist technique of quickly applied daubs of paint, just as the snow and trees are defined by broad, broken strokes of white and green. The painting was very special to Monet, and he kept it with him for his entire life.
Printed on 200 gsm museum-quality matte paper from the museum’s high-resolution open-access image, with a white border so nothing of the original is cropped. Available from A4 up to 70 × 100 cm, or as a digital download to print yourself.
