About the work
In the last twenty years of his life Cézanne painted Mount Sainte-Victoire, near his home in Aix-en-Provence, again and again. He made this view, around 1904, from a small road leading east from Aix toward the mountain, where two umbrella pines stood at the roadside. A pine branch sweeps across the sky from the left, echoing the slope of the mountain and linking the near and the far.
Printed on 200 gsm museum-quality matte paper from the museum’s high-resolution open-access image, with a white border so nothing of the original is cropped. Available from A4 up to 70 × 100 cm, or as a digital download to print yourself.
